Pros and cons of Guthook's JMT Guide app for iPhone and iPad

Guthook's JMT Guide app good for

I recently used the Guthook App on the PCT and it was incredibly useful to plan and monitor progress, set an itinerary and be aware of water and campsites. ????
This app was handy for knowing next available water and camp sites along the trail. Viewing elevations worked well although a couple of passes were a bit off. Even with GPS turned on, the app was power efficient. GPS was slow to non-working when overcast, but I dont think that was the apps fault. When an area was marred by numerous use trails, this app was able to direct me to the correct trail without error. Worth every penny.
By far the best way to navigate the JMT. Very stable. No issues at all. You can leave your phone in airplane mode and then when you need to see where you are on the trail you can hit a button in the app to turn the gps on. This app is much better than using a stand-alone gps unit. You get better graphics and more info like water sources and campsites. Cant praise this app enough.
I loved this app & it should be the first thing you get. Download this app and use it throughout your hike, make sure to have a power source.

Some bad moments

Liked and used the app at first, all worked well. Liked the distance tracking (ex. distance to next tent site, water, etc). But after a few days use, App stopped working correctly. The app kept/only showed me at the start of the JMT even though I was well into the hike.
Its new so it doesnt have all the campsites or a lot of users providing info from the trail. But the GPS function is cool and its a nice addition to the maps while out there. And cust feedback was quick and accurate.
Just used this on my three-week JMT thru-hike. Super-useful-was my go-to GPS, map, and campsite/elevation guide. Really well done.
This app is fantastic! Im sitting at the Reds store, so 60 miles in and this app has already come in SOOO useful! A few times already Ive veared off trail onto some other prominent non JMT trail and I was back on track quickly! On average Y. Valley to reds has taken 10 seconds or less for GPS to kick in! Ive got Wenk, Harrison, & Atlas with me, but using this app 90% of the time, so easy to flip out of pocket than maps. Good to have others, but so far this has been working spot on and amazingly. Only notes, wish showed more items in elevation view, been utilizing that more and more, and show more camp site names in alignment with Atlas & Harrison. Finished JMT. This app was tremendous! Only when thunder clouds rolled in was GPS not possible, otherwise 15 seconds or less to track on iPhone 5 for whole route! I see update just provided landscape for elevation, that was gonna be a request. Other than that give a more prominent name other than "tentsite" like "McClure Meadows" and show more lakes on map! Most lakes not shown…
It was very nice to be on the trail and map out the day with this app. All places are accurate except those listed below. Not the prettiest app, but very useful. Problems I found on the trail: Silver peak is off. GPS showed me at the top of the elevation chart, not at the marker Topo is in meters GPS would sometimes end up off the coast of Africa.
Wont even start up, crashes immediately! I want my money back.
